EPITAPH / A SONG IN SORROW (Excerpt)
Words: Edward Capern, Music: Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll

For my love I built a nest
With two birdies we were blessed
Raven death this way did fly
Slew them both and here they lie.

My heart is sad, I cannot sing
Those merry strains I sang of yore;
I hear the thrush salute the spring,
But music charms my soul no more.

I see the bonny primrose peep,
And eye me as I pass her by,
But all that I can do is weep,
And turn my head away and sigh.

A moan escapes with every breath,
My bosom is a nest of fears;
The only thought I have is death,
And day in darkest gloom appears.
